Exploring how AI and metaverse are fostering public services and industry
                          innovation

            The GSS-24,

Recalling that the convergence of AI and metaverse can revolutionize key areas such as public services,
disaster reduction, city planning and smart manufacturing, and drive innovative solutions in achieving the
            SDGs,

                 - Highlights that foundation models have driven AI development to a new era that has a significant
impact on the ICT industry innovation.
                 - Highlights the ITU-T Focus Group on metaverse (FG-MV) and ITU-T Focus Groups on AI for
Natural Disaster Management (FG-AI4NDM), AI for Digital Agriculture (FG-AI4A) and AI for Health
(FG-AI4H), which helped advance technical requirements for metaverse and AI applications.
                 - Highlights the metaverse enabling standards and tools developed within and across SDOs,
                     including ITU, IEC and ISO.

                 - Recognize the importance of the Global Initiative on Virtual Worlds - Discovering the CitiVerse in
leveraging the convergence of AI and the metaverse to foster innovation, enhance public
services in cities, and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
                     (SDGs)."

                 - Urges ITU to enhance its collaboration with Member States, the private sector, cities and
communities, fostering partnerships to help ensure that metaverse contributes positively to
societal advancement. The convergence of virtual and physical worlds presents unprecedented
opportunities for innovation and community-building and embracing international standards is
crucial in ensuring the seamless integration of the metaverse with our cities.
                 - Reiterates the imperative for ITU, IEC, ISO and other SDOs to persist in developing technical
guidance, standards and frameworks in these domains, emphasizing the critical inclusion of
diverse global perspectives throughout the standardization process.
