                   According to the information from the Directorate General of Customs, Costa Rica had 209
                   EEE-related subheadings associated with 143 HS groups in force in 2020. It is not feasible to
                   handle an inventory with all these subheadings due to the large amount of EEE involved.
                   EMPA recommends defining tracers to limit this inventory. This is an important issue for
                   developing a national or local WEEE inventory.

                   EMPA indicates that tracers, based on weight and composition data, represent the most significant
                   categories for a country's inventory. Figure 13 shows the tracers categories recommended by
                   EMPA to develop WEEE inventories (Schluep, Müller, & Rochat, 2012). These wide categories
                   allow a more appropriate data consolidation and analysis according to those large groups.


                   The definition of tracers for the Costa Rica inventory followed the process shown in Figure 14.
