3.2 Scope of Costa Rica’s WEEE inventory

In the framework of the PREAL project, Costa Rica has worked jointly with United Nations
University (UNU) in the development of the WEEE national inventory published by the end of
2021. These are the data officially used by the country and are shown in Figure 9 (Forti, Baldé,
Kuerh, & Bel, 2020).

During the implementation of Recommendation ITU-T L.1031, a specific inventory for eleven
selected tracers was developed applying the market supply-based methodology and the
consumption-based methodology explained in section 3.3 Methodology for WEEE estimation.
