Accessibility at PP-14
To enable persons with disabilities to fully participate at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2014, ITU is committed to provide reasonable accommodation.
Accessibility features available at BEXCO conference center
The conference venue is generally accessible to persons with disabilities. Persons with disabilities arriving at the conference center will be able to enter through a priority line. The conference venue has been built with tactile paving and there is signage available to meet the needs of the visually impaired, including appropriate parking signs and elevator buttons. Accessible toilets are available on each floor of the venue. Wheelchairs are available upon request at BEXCO Information Desk.
Accessibility services available at BEXCO conference center
- Open captioning will be available for all plenary sessions. Additional sessions that offer captioning will be clearly identified at the daily schedule of meetings.
- Specifications for audio conferencing equipment used at PP-14 can be found here for headets and IR receivers.
- Telecommunication relay service will be available free of charge.
IT Assistive Technology Experience Corner
The IT Assistive Technology Experience Corner will be set up during the course of the 2014 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference introducing IT assistive technology services to participants with disabilities and providing them with opportunities to experience IT assistive technology products.
The IT Assistive Technology Experience Corner will be operated as follows:
- Dates: October 20 – November 7 2014
- Location: BEXCO Conference Hall entrance
- Opening hours: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
The Experience Corner will showcase 25 IT assistive technology products designed to support persons with three different types of disabilities: visual impairments; physical disabilities/brain injury; hearing impairment/speech disorders. Visitors to the Experience Corner will be able to test the showcased products and a team of service staff will assist visiting participants.
Alongside with the showcase, the Experience Corner will also provide free-of-charge Telecommunication Relay Service (TRS) for persons with hearing and speech impairments.

Plenary Meetings and substantive Committees' meetings at PP-14 will be webcasted and can be followed from an internet connected laptop or PC. Captioning will be available in Plenary meetings and substantive Committees' meetings.
