​​​Joint Coordination Activities that concluded their activities

• Joint Coordination Activity on Multimedia Aspects of E-services (JCA-MMeS)
  (Created in January 2017, last met October 2019)
  The JCA on multimedia aspects of e-services was creted in 2017 to monitor and coordinate the work on multimedia aspects of e-services with a particular focus on standardization, taking into consideration the work of other relevant standards development organizations (SDOs), forums and consortia. Having operated for one study period, it was not renewed for the 2022-2024 study period. Coordination activities continued directly under Q1/16.
  
• ​​​Joint Coordination Activity on Software-Defined Networking (JCA-SDN)
  (Terminated in 2017-11)
  The establishment of the Joint Coordination Activity on Software-Defined Networking (JCA-SDN), has been approved by ITU-T TSAG in June 2013. Mr Takashi Egawa (NEC, Japan) was appointed as the Chairman and Ms Ying Cheng (China Unicom, China) as the vice chair of JCA-SDN. Since its establishment JCA-SDN had TSAG as its parent group. Since June 2015, JCA-SDN reports its progress to SG13. JCA-SDN was confirmed for continuation till the end of 2017 by the SG13 (February 2017 meeting) and TSAG (May 2017 meeting). In addition, Ms Ying Cheng (China Unicom) took the Chairman's position in this group from February 2017.
  
  Last meeting of JCA-SDN took place on the 9 November 2017. It ceased its activities having reached the end of its lifetime. The main output of the group, SDN standards roadmap, was entrusted for maintenance to the JCA-IMT2020.
• Joint Coordination Activity on technical aspects of telecommunication networks to support the Internet (JCA-Res178)
  (Terminated in 2017-05)
  Joint Coordination Activity on technical aspects of telecommunication networks to support the Internet (JCA-Res178) was established in November 2012 by World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-12), pursuant to Resolution 178 ‘ITU role in organizing the work on technical aspects of telecommunication networks to support the Internet’ of the ITU Plenipotentiary (Guadalajara, 2010). The scope of the JCA-Res178 is to coordinate and identify ITU-T work on aspects of telecommunication networks to support the Internet that help advance network evolution, capacity, continuity, interoperability and security, through contribution-based work; and to coordinate ITU-T contributions to the implementation of WSIS. JCA-Res178 reports to TSAG.
• Joint Coordination Activity on Conformance and Interoperability Testing (JCA-CIT)
  (Terminated in 2016-07)
  JCA-CIT has been active in ITU-T since 2007. JCA-CIT coordinated work undertaken by ITU-T Study Groups in driving ITU’s Conformance and Interoperability (C&I) Programme, ensuring that these expert groups collaborate efficiently within ITU and with other standards development organizations (SDOs). JCA-CIT also supported ITU-T Study Groups’ identification of technologies suited to C&I testing, and acted as the first point of contact for organizations interested in contributing to ITU’s C&I Programme. JCA-CIT successfully concluded in July 2016. Hereafter, coordination on implementation of C&I Programme is lead by ITU-T SG11.
• Joint Coordination Activity for Cloud Computing (JCA-Cloud)
  (Established 2012-01; Terminated 2015-05)
  TSAG, at its meeting of January 2012, established the JCA-Cloud. The scope of JCA-Cloud is coordination of the ITU-T cloud computing standardization work within ITU-T and coordination of the communication with standards development organizations and forums also working on Cloud Computing protocols and standards. On 1 May 2015 JCA-Cloud was terminated as exhausted its mandate by the decision of its parent group, SG13, at its meeting of April – May 2015. The main project of the JCA-Cloud, the cloud computing roadmap Cloud Computing Roadmap, was entrusted for maintenance to the SG13, Q17/13.
• Joint Coordination Activity on Home Networking (JCA-HN)
  (Replaced 2012-01 by the JCA-SG&HN)
  With the agreement of the TSAG meeting 14-18 March 2005, a Joint Coordination Activity on Home Networking (JCA-HN) was established. The scope of the JCA-HN was decided following a meeting held immediately after the ITU-T workshop Opportunities and Challenges in Home Networking, 13 – 14 October 2005, Geneva and discussions at the TSAG meeting 7-11 November 2005. The name “Home Network Initiative” will be used to describe work in this field spanning ITU-T Study Groups. JCA-HN reports to TSAG.
• Joint Coordination Activity on ICT and climate change (JCA-ICT&CC)
  (Established 2009-04; Terminated on 2015-10-23)
  The objectives of the Joint Coordination Activity on ICT and climate change (JCA-ICT&CC) were to co-ordinate activity on ICT & CC across ITU-T Study Groups, in particular SGs 5, 9, 13, 15 and 16, and to coordinate with ITU-R and ITU-D as well as to provide a visible contact point for ICT and Climate Change activities in ITU-T, to seek co-operation from external bodies working in the field of ICT & CC and enable effective two-way communication with these bodies.
• Joint Coordination Activity on IPTV (JCA-IPTV)
  (Established 2006-04; Terminated on 2016-11-03)
  The ITU-T Joint Coordination Activity on IPTV (JCA-IPTV) was established in 2006 to identify and co-ordinate activity on IPTV across all the relevant ITU-T study groups and to liaise with ITU-R, for the harmonious and timely development of globally relevant IPTV standards. It initially focused on coordination of the Focus Group on IPTV with relevant study groups and external organizations, and then on the IPTV work in ITU-T S​Gs 2, 9, 13, 16 and 17. It also provided a visible contact point for IPTV activities in ITU-T, to seek co-operation from external bodies working in the field of IPTV and enable effective two-way communication with these bodies. IPTV-JCA reported to SG13 till 2012 and then to SG16​ till its conclusion in 2016.
• Joint Coordination Activity on Management (JCA-Mgt)
  (Terminated on 2011-08-19)
  The scope of the Joint Coordination Activity on Management (JCA-Mgt) is the coordination of the management standardization work inside and outside of the ITU-T. This JCA includes the coordination responsibilities previously addressed by the NGN Management Focus Group (NGNMFG) regarding NGN management, but goes beyond by including also the coordination of the work related to the next generation of telecommunication management networks.
• Joint Coordination Activity on Network Aspects of Identification Systems (including RFID) (JCA-NID)
  (Replaced in 2011-02 by the JCA-IoT)
  The JCA-NID concluded its activity on February 2011 when it was renamed as JCA-IoT. JCA-NID was established by TSAG at its meeting (Geneva, 3-7 July 2006). Mr. Pierre-André Probst (OFCOM, Switzerland) was appointed as the Convener of this activity. On the retirement of Mr Probst, Mr Hyoung Jun Kim (ETRI, Korea) took over its leadership as Convener of this activity. JCA-NID was open to members and designated representatives of relevant Standards Development Organization and Forums. JCA-NID reported to TSAG. The work of JCA-NID was continued by the JCA-IoT (Internet of Things).
  NOTE - The JCA-IoT was renamed as JCA-IoT-SC&C in 2015-10 after the creation of ITU-T SG20.
• Joint Coordination Activity on NGN (JCA-NGN)
  (Terminated in 2012-07)
  The setting up of a 'Joint Coordination Activity' on NGN (NGN-JCA) was one of the agreements at the WTSA-04 concerning the organisation of the NGN studies. Its purpose is to augment the lead study group role of Study Group 13 for NGN particularly between Study Groups 2, 11 and 13 but also including other study Groups involved in the NGN work such as Study Group 12 (NGN QoS) and Study Group 17 (Security).
• Joint Coordination Activity on Smart Grid and Home Networking (JCA-SG&HN)
  (Established 2012-01; Terminated 2013-06)
  TSAG, at its meeting of January 2012, established the JCA-SG&HN replacing the JCA on Home Networking (JCA-HN). The scope of this JCA is the coordination, both inside and outside of the ITU-T, of standardization work concerning all network aspects of Smart Grid and related communication as well as Home Networking. JCA-SG&HN successfully concluded in June 2013. Hereafter, coordination on Smart Grid and Home Networking is lead by ITU-T SG15.
