International AI Standards Summit session:
Digital Agriculture: Establishing AI Standards for Global Food Security
This session will explore how emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) can be leveraged within the domain of digital agriculture, focusing on how standardization can unlock the full potential of these AI-driven solutions in the sector. Panellists will discuss the critical role of international standards in ensuring interoperability, data security, and scalability of AI applications across agricultural production processes. The session will further put the spotlight on how the collaborative standardization efforts led by UN agencies including ITU and FAO, is revolutionizing precision farming, crop management, and sustainable agricultural practices to address global food security challenges in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2.
Moderator:
Atsuko Okuda, Regional Director, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific
Panelists:
- Sebastian Bosse, Head of the Interactive & Cognitive Systems Group, Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI)
- Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (Agronomy, Agroforestry & Climate Change) in Natural Resource Management Division, Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR)
- Ulaç Demirag, Country Director and Head of the Multi-Country Office in India, IFAD

QoS from Space – Potential QoS assessment of Direct-To-Cell (D2C) Networks
This presentation will explore the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) in Direct-To-Cell (D2C) networks, where satellite technology directly interfaces with mobile devices. The session will focus on assessing the potential QoS metrics for these networks, including latency, bandwidth, and reliability supported by ITU-T Study Group 12 (ITU-T SG12) standards, and how satellite connectivity can impact user experience. Participants will learn about the challenges and solutions related to integrating satellite-based communications with terrestrial networks, as well as the benefits of enhanced coverage and connectivity. The presentation aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how QoS can be evaluated and optimized in D2C networks, offering insights into the future of space-based communication technologies and their role in improving global connectivity.
