Digital transformation can play a significant role in supporting efforts to tackle climate change and accelerate climate adaptation and mitigation actions.
ITU, being the UN specialized agency for ICTs, is contributing to the UN system-wide coordination, or “delivering as one”, on addressing climate change by using digital technologies and is taking the necessary steps to deepen the global understanding on the relation between ICTs, digital technologies and climate change.
Digital technologies can:
- Improve energy efficiency across sectors,
- Reduce carbon emissions, and
- Enhance climate monitoring activities and more.
