International Telecommunication Union (ITU) together with other entities and United Nations organizations organized the Dialogue on Sustainable Digital Transformation in Asia and the Pacific that took place virtually on 19 October 2021 from 10h00 to 13h00 CEST. The dialogue was held in conjunction with
ITU-T Study Group 5 Regional Group Meeting for Asia and the Pacific (SG5RG-AP) and took place on 19 and 20 October 2021.
In anticipation of COP26, ITU organized a regional dialogue on Sustainable Digital Transformation in Asia and the Pacific. The event highlighted the importance of sustainability and energy efficiency in driving digital transformation and meeting the Net-Zero challenge, in line with the targets set in the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goal.
The event placed a special focus on the sustainable digital transformation progress in the Asia and the Pacific region. It also discussed the role of international standards in guiding the implementation of energy efficient ICT and achieve Net-Zero within the ICT sector as well as other sectors.
The event gathered ICT experts, industry specialists, the academia, representatives from the Asia Pacific region and other relevant stakeholders who identified and discussed the key challenges and opportunities in digital transformation across different city functions.
