ITU-D Study Groups were pleased to invite you to join us for a public webinar focusing on The Enabling Policy Environment for Effective Disaster Management including for COVID-19 Response.
Background Information:
ITU Members recognize the vital role that ICTs play in all phases of disasters as well as the importance of preparing national emergency telecommunications plans (NETPs). In many cases, the success of the deployment and use of ICTs, as well as the development and implementation of NETPs, depends upon having a sufficient enabling policy environment.
Goals:
- Discuss the elements that create an enabling policy environment for increasing emergency telecommunication preparedness, network resilience, disaster risk reduction and disaster management
- Provide examples of policies that enable flexibility when deploying emergency communications equipment and also enable successful disaster preparedness and response with respect to telecommunications and ICTs
- Share ITU Member experiences and lessons learned in developing and implementing enabling policies and NETPs
- Enhance the Final Report for Question Q5/2 chapter on Enabling Policies
