youth-home.jpg ITU's Youth Programme aims to support children and young people from developing countries and those in transition to improve their access, use and knowledge of information and communication technologies (ICTs).

Not only will this better integrate young people into the Information Society, but it will also help to bridge the Digital Divide. ICTs can enhance education, reduce youth unemployment and promote social and economic development. With over half of the world's population under the age of 25, the benefits that ICTs can bring become even more important.   

Crowdsourcing Initiative

Calling all young persons!
The GPY Crowdsourcing Initiative is the perfect opportunity for youth from all over the world to share their thoughts and opinions with the UN. Input from the platform will support the development of youth-related targets and indicators for possible inclusion in the UN's post-2015 development agenda. It was launched in February 2014, and more than 1500 individuals and youth-led organizations have already signed up. Visit the Crowdsourcing Platform to share your thoughts and opinions today!

Young Innovators Competition

box2.jpg​Launched in 2010, this annual competition seeks out talented young thinkers and social "technopreneurs" across the globe and encourages them to showcase their innovative ideas at the InnovationSpace, a dedicated show floor pavilion at ITU Telecom World. The competition offers these young thinkers the chance to take part in workshops on entrepreneurial skills and provides them with opportunities to meet and network with leading ICT players. Find out more about the Young Innovators Competition 2014.

#BYND2015 Global Youth Summit

box3.jpgThe BYND2015 Global Youth Summit took place from 9 to 11 September 2013 in San Jose, Costa Rica. At the Summit, ITU engaged with a worldwide community to gather their opinions and ideas on how technology can contribute to a better world and shape the post-2015 development agenda. 

Digital Opportunities for Youth

With 73 million young people unemployed, youth employment is in crisis across the globe. One innovative solution to reverse this trend is using ICTs. ITU's report Digital Opportunities: Innovative ICT Solutions for Youth Employment, casts a spotlight on digital jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Girls in ICT Day

With less and less school girls opting to study technology-related disciplines, ITU is committed to championing the catalytic role a tech career can play in creating exciting, far-reaching opportunities for women and girls. To help inspire girls to consider a future in technology, ITU established Girls in ICT Day back in 2010 and supports the global organization of activities every year on this day.
