At the Plenary session of 10 November 2006 the Plenipotentiary
Conference elected the Secretary-General. In accordance with the Rules of
Procedures applicable to the elections, the majority consists of more than
half the delegations present and voting. Invalid and blank ballots are not
computed in the majority.

157 ballots were cast. There
were two abstentions and no invalid ballots. The required
majority was therefore 78.
Second round: Thursday, 9 November, 16.50 hours (Antalya time)

was one abstention and no invalid ballots. The required
majority was therefore 79.

of Deputy Secretary-General
At the afternoon's Plenary session of 10 November 2006 the Plenipotentiary
Conference elected the Deputy Secretary-General of the ITU. At the beginning of the session
Ghana announced it had withdrawn its candidature. In accordance with the Rules
of Procedures applicable to the elections, the majority consists of more than
half the delegations present and voting. Invalid and blank ballots are not
computed in the majority.
