Summary: The main purpose of the Recommendation is to provide general principles to evaluate the carbon footprint of servers, and improve the accuracy, consistency, and transparency of carbon footprint assessment of this kind of products. The Recommendation will establish a guideline for the carbon footprint assessment of servers, which is supposed to help stakeholders to comprehensively understand their carbon emissions and to help identify key emission reduction strategies during the overall life cycle. The work considers relevant existing frameworks such as L.1400-series of recommendations (in particular L.1410), ISO 14067, the GHG protocol ICT supplement and potential related server related initiatives to keep consistent with those.
