Since a digital signage system is located in open area that can be seen by many people to provide rich information, digital signage can play a crucial role in providing alerting service. It is possible to provide multimedia-based alerting information because a digital signage terminal device provides multimedia services, in general. It can be used to provide bidirectional text-to-voice conversion for accessibility, evacuation plan, and directions to emergency exit, etc. There are several methods for providing common alerting services. These methods can be applicable to digital signage services.
This Recommendation describes framework for common alerting service in digital signage, which includes requirements, system architecture, detailed functionalities, and metadata.
