ASP3: Fostering development of infrastructure to enhance digital connectivity and connecting the unconnected

In partnership with Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA) of Australia:

  • Direct country assistance was provided to Fiji to assess the digital TV broadcasting model;
  • Asia and the Pacific wide  regional study on “Building Resilient National ICT Infrastructure in Asia and the Pacific: Leading Practices for Addressing the Gaps” was undertaken, key insights were shared during Masterclass on inclusive and resilient Broadcasting development. The study is expected to be published in 2025;
  • The Philippines, Lao P.D.R, Bhutan and Nepal were assisted through assessment of national level infrastructure resilience, preparedness, affordability of services and early warning situations. Recommendations for further improvement were made respectively.

Participants from 10 Pacific Island countries were trained on the Spectrum Management System for Developing Countries (SMS4DC) tool during the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) Annual General Meeting in Vanuatu in April.
