ASP2: Harnessing information and communication technologies to support the digital economy and inclusive digital societies
Under the Girls in ICT Day activities, over 4000 girls and youth in the region – including in India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Malaysia, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Thailand, the Philippines, Tonga and Vanuatu, enhanced their digital skills.
As part of the ITU-Huawei collaboration, 10 Generation Connect Asia and the Pacific Youth Envoys were sponsored by Huawei Asia-Pacific to attend the flagship youth program “Seeds for the Future 2024”, a week-long study tour held in China.
Work continued to enhance digital literacy among older persons through collaboration with older persons’ associations in the Asia and the Pacific region as well as an information session with stakeholders in Thailand to explore recommendations to promote healthy ageing in the country.
The first phase of the digital skills assessment for refugees and asylum seekers in India was conducted, focusing on addressing gaps in digital skills and enhancing the use of the Digital Gateway platform in collaboration with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The initiative aims to empower refugees with the necessary digital skills to effectively engage with services and opportunities, thereby supporting their integration and self-reliance.
