Regional Initiatives for the Americas

AMS2: Enhancement and expansion of digital-literacy, digital-skills and digital-inclusion programmes, especially among vulnerable populations

As part of the Americas Girls Can Code initiative, in partnership with META, over 2300 participants benefited from both online and face-to-face digital skills activities in Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico. This also included activities specifically tailored for persons with disabilities.

Representatives from indigenous and remote communities from more than 10 countries in Latin America benefited from online training activities held under the five-module program for the management of ICT Networks in Indigenous and Rural Communities.

The Digital KIT initiative to advance the digital transformation of entrepreneurs, micro and small businesses was developed. Special focus was given to women entrepreneurs in the Dominican Republic , El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama.

A Child Online Protection Policy and Strategic Framework was developed in collaboration with UNICEF and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to help policymakers, regulators and other key stakeholders  improve the enabling environment to better protect children online.
