Digital Transformation Lab

One of the three vehicles of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development.

The Digital Transformation Lab or DT Lab is a purpose-driven research and implementation lab similar to a think tank specializing in applied research, co-creation and the curation of novel knowledge tools, products and services.

The Digital Transformation Lab builds innovation knowledge programmes to capacitate the Network of ITU Acceleration Centres and supports Centres in getting policy and ecosystem initiatives off the ground, in addition to providing technical assistance upon request.

For each of the five strategic objectives of the Alliance, tools and services are bundled into a knowledge programme delivered through Playbooks in the ITU Acceleration Centres.

Playbooks are a cornerstone of the country capacitation strategy of the Alliance. They stem from diverse innovation approaches such as  systems thinking, design thinking, agile and futures approaches, These are amplified with local learnings from all regions informed by ITU’s decades of development experience and countless interventions on the ground.

The DT Lab also plays a key role in:

  • supporting the design, operationalization and capacity building of Acceleration Centres,
  • facilitating the transfer of knowledge products and
  • overseeing the implementation of knowledge programmes.

The DT Lab is hosted by the ITU Development Bureau and driven by a cross-discipline team.
