I-CoDI Panel Discussion at GITEX: Regional Perspectives on Accelerating Connectivity & Digital Transformation

Dubai – On Monday, 10 October, the ITU International Center of Digital Innovation (I-CoDI) and the UAE Government, Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), will host a panel discussion on the challenges, opportunities, and professional experiences of regional experts in Accelerating Connectivity and Digital Transformation.

The panel discussion held at GITEX, one of the world’s most significant and forward-looking tech events, will be moderated by Amal AlQasim, Team Lead for the Digital Capabilities team at TDRA, and animated by I-CoDI Global Lead Kasia Jakimowicz. The 45-minute exchange at the TDRA Government Stand will feature expert opinions and insights on organizational efforts to accelerate connectivity & digital transformation in the Arab, African, Asia and Pacific, South America, and European regions.

I-CoDI Regional Innovation Facilitators Karim Abdelghani, Caroline Gaju, Calvin Chan, Sergio Scarabino, and Elind Sund will discuss their first-hand experiences with innovative approaches to country-level challenges. They will also discuss the future and emerging trends in each region.

The panel discussion is part of a broader UAE and ITU initiative to build and showcase ITU’s innovation capacity. Alex Wong, ITU Chief of Special Initiatives, and Majid Almashloum, Director, Center of Digital Innovation, TDRA, will open an innovation workshop on Tuesday, 11 October.

The 4-day Accelerated Innovation Workshop for Facilitators will empower 18 regional and headquarters focal points with the latest institutional problem-solving and solution-creation approaches. After receiving their certificates, each new I-CoDI Innovation Facilitator is expected to integrate these approaches into their work streams. ITU’s Senior Management has expressed their full support for the Facilitators and has committed to providing the enabling environment to facilitate the success of each new initiative.
