Scenario-Based Exercise for Cyber-Resilience in the Arab Region
The ITU Regional Office for Arab States together with the ITU Cybersecurity team conducted a Tabletop Exercise and a Cybersecurity Incident Simulation Exercise in collaboration with the UAE Cybersecurity Council on 18 January at Intersec 2024, hosted in Dubai, UAE. The capacity-building sessions engaged cybersecurity and digital forensics experts through hands-on experience, enabling them to expand their cybersecurity toolkit with new knowledge and techniques.
The Tabletop Exercise centered around a role-playing scenario simulating a cyberattack directed at a financial institution, and tested participant’s technical proficiency to respond.
In the Cybersecurity Incident Simulation Exercise, participants engaged in an in-depth exploration of the subtle characteristics of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks, to enhance their ability to detect, respond to, and mitigate such attacks.
This work contributes to the implementation of ITU-D’s cybersecurity priorities and Arab States Regional Initiative 2: Enhancing confidence, security and privacy in the use of telecommunications/information and communication technologies in the era of new and emerging digital technologies.
