ITU Academy Training Centres meet in Manama, Bahrain, to share best practices and strengthen digital skills training
The ITU Academy Training Centres (ATCs) have made a significant impact since their launch in 2023, with over 5,100 participants taking part in nearly 70 courses on diverse topics, including ICT policy, spectrum, digital services, emerging technology and cybersecurity.
At the 2nd Academy Training Centre Annual Meeting held in Manama, Bahrain, ahead of the Digital Skills Forum, participants had an opportunity to:
- get an update on the ATC programme implementation, as well as on the newly launched ITU-EU ‘Capacity development for digital transformation’ project
- build on lessons learned and share best practices on training course management and scale-up
- network and consolidate collaborations between participating institutions
- further align on optimal approaches regarding training quality, delivery methodologies, and impact measurement
- meet representatives from Digital Transformation Centres and discuss synergies and joint efforts.
The ATC annual meeting is a vital platform for ITU partner institutions which play a crucial role in the organization’s capacity development efforts aimed at professionals from government institutions, regulators, ICT and academia from its Member States. It provides space for valuable exchanges to help enhance the impact of the ATC programme and upskill key stakeholders that drive digital transformation.

About ITU Academy Training Centres
In 2023, one of ITU’s key training delivery mechanisms, the Centres of Excellence programme was replaced by the ITU Academy Training Centres (ATCs) programme, following the outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) 2022 where the ITU membership adopted the revised Resolution 73.
The ITU Academy Training Centres programme takes the ITU’s capacity development work forward into the future. It directly contributes to building knowledge and skills among professionals in the ICT field thus enabling them to contribute to, and fully participate, in the digital transformation.
