BDT4Impact: case study – Record-breaking cyber response trainings

ITU and the UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC) were recognized for record-breaking achievements during cyber response trainings.

CyberDrills simulate cyber-attacks and incidents to test organizations’ cyber capabilities and response, enhancing their cyber resilience. They showcase pioneering strategies and innovations in cybersecurity and highlight the need to improve coordinated responses to address cybersecurity challenges.

Five Guinness World Records were awarded during the 11th Regional Cybersecurity Week, held in October 2023 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Records were awarded in the following areas:

  • Largest CyberDrill competition
  • Most nationalities in a cybersecurity awareness lesson
  • Largest cyber-city threat simulation model
  • Most nationalities in a CyberDrill competition
  • Largest cyber-city threat simulation model (devices)

The two organizations continued to break records at the Global CyberDrill 2024, held during GISEC Global 2024 in April 2024 in Dubai, UAE, achieving an additional three Guinness World Records for:

  • The most nationalities in a gamified cybersecurity training
  • The most nationalities in an Internet of Things (IoT) awareness lesson
  • The largest Internet of Things (IoT) awareness lesson
