GICT Day Malaysia 21

International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated worldwide every year on the fourth Thursday of April, which provides an opportunity for girls and young women to see and experience technology in a whole new light. Over 377,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11,400 celebrations of International Girls in ICT Day in 171 countries worldwide since 2011.

In 2021, Malaysia under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia is looking forward to celebrate these initiatives as we are assuredly aware of the capabilities and the power girls and young women possess. We firmly believe that girls and women empowerment in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) industry together with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) related field are predominantly significant in augmenting gender equality in Malaysia.

Celebrating Girls in ICT Day Malaysia 2021 resonates the aspiration of MyDIGITAL and the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint which was recently launched, to achieve inclusive, responsible and sustainable socioeconomic development driven by digital transformation.

In 2021, the Girls in ICT Day celebration in Malaysia will be conducted virtually through the month of April, due to the COVID-19
