The Generation Connect Young Leadership Programme (GCYLP) 2024 cohort was selected by a global jury spanning all ITU regions, and with vast experience across the private sector, public sector, government and international development landscape.

The jury played a crucial role in selecting and mentoring the 30 fellows who make up the inaugural GCYLP cohort. The program received over 5,000 applications from more than 200 countries worldwide.

The criteria elements for the selection of the 30 fellows were:

  • Be a young person aged 18-28
  • Interested in making a real impact in your communities by leading your own digital development project
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a tertiary education institution from a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or a demonstrably STEM-related academic programme
  • Able to communicate in English, the main language of the programme. The language requirement aims to ensure that all fellows can benefit from the planned offerings of training programmes, networking, and events.

The deadline for submissions was 23:59 CEST on 23 March 2024.
