This webinar introduced NTT DOCOMO's R&D efforts toward 5G evolution and 6G. ICT networks are expected to increase their importance as a cross-industry social infrastructure while providing added value. Dr Tani introduced the evolution of this infrastructure, such as virtualization, disaggregation, and intelligence, as well as new lifestyles realized by this infrastructure.

Participants had the chance to hear from Dr Naoki Tani about his impactful life lessons over the years as well as his advice to young researchers in the field of information and communication technologies.

SPEAKER: Naoki Tani, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, NTT DOCOMO, Japan
Naoki Tani has been leading the R&D Innovation Division since June 2020. He is responsible for the entire R&D activities of NTT DOCOMO Group, including radio, mobile core, terminals, and services, and for the creation of a vision of future mobile systems and services. He is a board member of O-RAN Alliance, and a board member of NGMN (Nex Gernaration Mobile Networks Alliance).
He started his career at NTT and has continued his responsibility for network standardization, development and deployment for 3G/LTE networks, and for IoT/M2M Business also after moving to NTT DOCOMO.
He graduated from Tokyo University with a Master of Engineering in 1989 and from Duke University with a Master of Business Administration in 1997.
