The Internet and digital technologies have the potential to transform children’s lives, giving them unparalleled access to educational, cultural, and economic opportunities. Today more than ever children have access to numerous possibilities to communicate, access entertainment, learn new skills to ensure future employability, be creative and contribute to establishing a better society for all. But too often, children cannot realize these opportunities, because the Internet is also a place where vulnerable people are exposed to the risks of serious harm.
The Futurecasters: Global Young Visionaries Summit will host COP Kids, a Child Online Protection event.
During the event, participating students will be invited to create a story for the new Child Online Safety Mascot by giving online safety tips.
The students will also participate in a training session on ‘Basic Skills for online Safety’.
The new Child Online Protection Mascot will be launched on Safer Internet Day 2020 to be observed on 11 February 2020.
