Peter has nearly 30 years experience in telecommunications. He worked for Nortel Networks for 22 years where he was promoted to the most senior technical position of Fellow. He currently works for Huawei as a Technical VP focusing on 5G wireline and optical control research. He has over 120 granted patents including fundamental MPLS and GMPLS IPR. Peter’s protocol designs/standards and implementations have been deployed in networks world-wide including 100’s of service providers and many large and small enterprises. Peter has a BSc and MSc in Computer Science and is currently chairing the ITU-T Focus Group on 5G wireline technologies. Peter’s staff edited the NFV networking specifications and currently contributes to several open source projects including ONOS and ODL. In the distant past Peter also wrote and distributed his own single person open source software project which was ultimately used in a number of IBM’s computer aided design tools and for teaching A.I at a number of Universities.
