Mario Barbé Abrigo
Chief of the Artificial Intelligence Unit, Clínica Alemana de Santiago

Mario Barbé is chief of the Artificial Intelligence Unit at Clínica Alemana de Santiago, and part of the Biomedical Informatics Center of the Innovation and Research Center at Universidad del Desarrollo. He is Adjunct Research Assistant Professor of the School of Medicine at UDD. Currently he is the lead researcher of FONDEF grant ID19I10143, where he works on improving the predictive capacity of the preventive medicine exam in people aged 65 and above using machine learning. His research areas are the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare data to solve clinical/administrative problems. He also develops data engineer techniques to translate electronic health record data to standard analytics formats in a reproducible manner. Dr. Barbé obtained his medical doctor title from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and earned his Master of Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where his research focused on using machine learning to predict and minimize organ risk damage from radiation therapy.
Marcos Lacayo Bosche
Estacion Vital, Nicaragua

Marcos Lacayo Bosche is a passionate social entrepreneur who connects his engineering abilities with healthcare to improve the wellbeing of our region. Marcos has been recognized as the best entrepreneur in Central America by the Innovate Summit in Guatemala in 2016 and one of the top entrepreneurs in Latin America by Forbes Magazine in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He completed his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a master’s in healthcare administration in the US. Prior to his entrepreneurial adventures, Marcos gained experience working for UPS, Toyota and GE suppliers. However, he always knew that his skills would be better used in Nicaragua, where in 2016 he created Estacion Vital.  Estacion Vital is a Healthcare platform integrated in Kiosks that empower users with access to preventive and primary technological and educational tools. To this day, Estacion Vital has served more than 90,000 users who received more than 300,000 preventive screenings and follow up personalized plans, examinations and tips. He is currently applying data science utilizing machine learning and data mining to analyze the users' data of Estacion Vital. Since 2017, Marcos has worked with Agora Partnerships, Central American Health Initiative (CAHI) powered by INCAE Business School, Ashoka, I3 Latam, Phillips Healthcare and Summit Fellowship to continuously improve Estacion Vital. Finally, in 2018 the love for Nicaragua encouraged Marcos to become a volunteer Fire Fighter and Paramedic for the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de Managua.
Milan Didara
Founder, CEO and CTO, Eniax

Milan Didara is a electronical engineer from Serbia with more than 20 years of experience in software design and development. He founded couple of digital platforms and startups in Serbia called Shine Company, educational startup that enables easier access to basic education material and Volim Radio, streaming music service that learns about theirs users taste and interests. Second one was named one of the best startups of the world in 2011. Milan is a founder, CEO and CTO of Eniax, healthcare communication technology startup based in Chile.
Mauricio Farez
CEO and Co-Founder, Entelai

​Mauricio Farez is the CEO and Co-Founder of Entelai. Mauricio received his M.D. degree with honors in 2006 and continued his training as a Research Fellow in Dr. Howard Weiner’s laboratory at Harvard Medical School followed by a Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health. He has received several awards including the Bruce S. Schoenberg International Award in Neuroepidemiology of the American Academy of Neurology, the Young Investigation award of the Argentinean Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Du Pre award from the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation. He is coauthor of 68 papers in international peer reviewed journals and has contributed to several book chapters. He is currently focused in solving modern healthcare challenges though the use of artificial intelligence.
Alexandre Chiavegatto Filho

Alexandre Chiavegatto Filho is an Associate Professor at the Department of Epidemiology of the School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo (SPH/USP), and coordinator of courses on the use of R for data analysis and on machine learning in healthcare. In 2015-2016 Dr. Chiavegatto Filho launched the online course "Big Data in Health in Brazil" from the USP-Coursera partnership, which had more than 8,500 enrolled students, coming from every Brazilian state. Dr. Chiavegatto Filho is also the director and founder of Labdaps (Laboratory of Big Data and Predictive Analysis in Health) of SPH/USP, which aims to apply and develop machine learning methods for diverse health problems, such as the analysis of the impact of public health policies, the improvement of the quality of health information and the prediction of incidence of diseases and deaths. Dr. Chiavegatto Filho received both his bachelor degree in Economics and his PhD in Public Health from the University of São Paulo, and had his postdoctoral training at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Alejandro Lopez Osornio

​Dr. Alejandro Lopez Osornio is a Family Physician and Medical Informatics specialist, trained in Hospital Italiano of Buenos Aires, Argentina. For the last 15 years, he has been collaborating with different digital health projects around the world, contributing to international working groups on standards and interoperability, and consulting on the implementation of National Digital Health agendas. As National Director for eHealth, he was in charge of the design and implementation of the National Digital Health Strategy at the National Ministry of Health in Argentina. Now he works as a consultant for Digital Health projects in public and private organizations.

Saul Calderon Ramirez

Magister Scientae in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on digital systems, University of Costa Rica (UCR), and bachellor in Computer Science, University of Costa Rica. His research interests go from Digital signal processing (sound, images, video), pattern recognition, machine learning to deep learning for medical imaging applications mostly. Ex-coordinator of the PAttern Recognition and Machine Learning Group (PARMA -Group) and participant in initiatives of automatic analysis ofbiomedical images at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology​, jointly with public and privatecompanies. Around 20 articles in international conferences, and journals in topics related to digital signal processing, pattern recognition and deep learning for medical applications. Jhonatan and his X-ray team won the 2019 Red GEALC IAckaton, in Peru and Latin America, with the project "Cardiopulmonary diseases diagnosis using chest x-ray images and deep learning". He's interested in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and software architecture.

Thomas Wiegand is a professor in the department of Elect​rical Engineering and Computer Science at the Technical University of Berlin and is jointly heading the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, Berlin, Germany. He was a visiting professor at Stanford University and co-founded several startup companies. For his research and publications, he received numerous awards. Thomson Reuters named him in their list of “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” as one of the most cited researchers in his field. He has been elected to the German National Acdemy of Engineering (Acatech) and the National Academy of Science (Leopoldina). He is a recipient of the ITU150 Award. Since 1995, he has been an active participant in standardization for multimedia with many successful submissions to ITU-T and ISO/IEC. In 20​00, he was appointed as the Associated Rapporteur of ITU-T VCEG.
