- Standards development for SDGs: The webinar provided an opportunity to help scope out the standards needed for cities to address the 17 UN SDGs, aiming to understand their interplay between these goals and various aspects of cities, and build a roadmap to develop standards as needed.
- Existing standards and SDO efforts: There are already many relevant international standards, such as those providing guidance, or being used as assessment tools that support cities in advancing to achieve the SDGs.
- Global exchange and reporting: The webinar offered an opportunity for SDOs, cities, and practitioners globally to exchange their experiences and lessons learned.
The objectives included but were not limited to:
- Learning how the SDGs can be mapped with different aspects of Cities
- Understanding how standards can help cities achieve and report on UN SDGs
- Reviewing key SDG topics and relevant tools that cities can use
- Identifying gaps in the standards landscape for cities
- Collecting and reflect on expectations and feedback from cities
- Learning how to embed standards in a city’s Sustainable Digital Transformation process
Participation in the webinar was open to all interested stakeholders including city representatives and city administrators, National Standards Bodies (NSBs), Members of IEC, ISO and ITU, domain experts and sector practitioners, ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that was a member of ITU and who wishes to contribute to the work. This included individuals who were also members of international, regional and national organizations. Participation was free of charge.
