Introduction:The rapid change in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) during the past decade has increased the necessity for updating the national numbering plan (based on ITU-T Recommendation E.164). The workshop is aiming to give attendees a better understanding of numbering planning, numbreing policies and the impact and implication of National Numbering Plan implementation, including administrative and regulatory issues.
Objective:The workshop will provide participants an opportunity to discuss a model plan and framework for the planning and management of national telephone numbers. A model numbering plan and a framework will be presentd for discussion. The topics of the workshop will be drawn from the agenda below. Early in the workshop participants will be asked which topics interest them most. The topics presented will match those interests, as far as possible There might also be side meetings ontopics of special interest to small groups.

Session 4: Numbering inventory management, user protection and user support This session will cover topics that include roles of operators and regulators, reserving and allocating numbers, auditing numbering records, secondary number allocation, charging for numbers, trading in numbers, changing numbers, recycling numbers, rights of callers and number holders, prevention of misuse of numbers, local dialling, short code matching, carrier selection and number portability. |
