Joint ITU and IEC Workshop on Rights Information Interoperability (RII)
Geneva, Switzerland, 13 February 2015
Friday, 13 FEbruary, 2015
Background
Improving the consumers experience in using digital contents while protecting content holders’ rights is one of the hot topics in the industry. Although DRM is known as a solution to manage intellectual property of digital contents, consumers are at risk of being locked into solutions offered by a single service provider. For the benefit of both consumers and the industry, clear mechanisms or rules for flexible digital distribution that allows for simple exchanges of content are expected.
Workshop objectives
The workshop will show current situation, work done by related organizations, use cases, and promote interoperability of rights information exchange across current content management systems using ITU-T H.751 | IEC 62698 which is the first product of an inter-agency cooperation between experts from ITU-T SG16 and IEC TC 100. The workshop will also discuss further collaboration among each stake holders.
