​Guide on how to capture and validate the diagram number and/or attachment number for the non-GSO sate​llite netw​ork using ​BR software SpaceCap and BR-SIS Validation​​​​

​​Capture of a​​​​​​ntenna radiation patterns​​​

In accordance with Resolution 55 (rev. WRC-19) and the Rules of Procedure on the receivability of forms of notices, all graphical  information for satellite networks should be submitted in a GIMS format. ​​
  • For maximum isotropic gain for a space station less than or equal to 5 dBi, it is encouraged to use pattern IDs 609 / 610 to denote the antenna pattern for the non-dir​​ectional antenna for the space station. 
  • For earth station antenna with low gain, it is encouraged to use pattern IDs 607/608 to denote a non-dir​​ectional​ antenna ​pattern. ​

Consult the Bureau's documentation on Antenna Pattern Library (APL) online​​​, which contains the description of antennas, available at http://1f8a81b9b0707b63-19211.webchannel-proxy.scarabresearch.com/en/ITU-R/software/Pages/ant-pattern.aspx​, and capture the pattern IDs in your notice database which can represent the characteristics of your antennas if possible.​

​If it's provided as equations, formulae, or a table describing all parts of the pattern as mentioned above, the Bureau will then assign the pattern ID in the said Antenna Pattern Library and capture the pa​​ttern ID in the notic​e database, when possible, for publication. Diagrams as images are not usable by technical examination software at the notification stage.

For the co-polar antenna radiation patterns submitted as images (only acceptable for API) in Gims database, the diagrams should  meet the following requirements:
  • the co-polar antenna radiation pattern must be plotted as the antenna gain (dBi) as a function of the off-axis angle in degrees;
  • the antenna gain must be defined for all off​-axis angles in the range between 0 and +/-180 degrees; if not all off-axis angles are included, then BR will assume that the range of the off-axis angles that are not covered in the diagrams will retain the flat value corresponding to the value at the maximum/minimum off-axis angles shown in the diagrams.​
  • the maximum antenna gain must correspond to the respective maximum antenna gain for the same beam or associated Earth station as you have captured in the notice database;
  • for any off-axis angle, only one gain value shall be defined, therefore, it's not encouraged to have more than one diagrams to describe the same antenna;
  • the X and Y axes should be clearly and legibly labelled;
  • all values should be compatible with the notice database;
  • the image must be sufficiently good quality that can be clearly viewed in Gims by others.​​

Cross validation using BRSIS validation


The cross-validation option of the BRSIS Validation software must be executed when validating the SNS format database against the GIMS format database, if any, for all notices in order to overcome any difficulties identified in the validation report for your notice before it is submitted to the B​ureau in accordance with section § 3.4 of the Rules of Procedure concerning the Receivability of forms of notice.
