On the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day, ITU and Com-ITU of CEPT organized a joint celebration held on 5 May 2018 in Bucharest, Romania.
International Girls in ICT Day is a global initiative established upon guidance of the ITU Member States that resolved in Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Rev. Busan, 2014) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). This global initiative, which is celebrated every fourth Thursday in April, has to date attracted over 300,000 girls and young women in 9,000 plus events in more than 160 countries worldwide. Celebrations included presentations of role model girls from Romania and interactive exercise with the representatives of European administrations on gender equality.
