The world is changing faster than ever. Things we couldn't imagine yesterday, today are an integral part of our lives. Young people are actively involved in making that change happen. Their knowledge of online environment, social media and new technologies allows them to act and organize themselves around things that matter and enables them to reach millions with their messages and ideas. No generation before has enjoyed these kind of possibilities. For the first time in history young people are listened to with such attention by leaders, world organizations and corporations. There is hope that they will succeed where we have failed.
Digital Youth Forum (DYF) is an event designed for youth, by youth and about youth on creative and innovative uses of new technologies and online safety. For youth who is already aware they can change the world as well as those who need support in developing their potential. A meeting of experts and inspiration seekers, creators and consumers, activists and dreamers.
For the second time DYF was co-organized by International Telecommunication Union, Empowering Children Foundation, Orange Foundation and Support by European Commission.
The main objective of DYF was to
- foster creativity, innovation, and efficacy in the field of new technologies and the internet
- promote creative use of new technologies and online safety
- empower, inspire and motivate
- introduce role models and mentors
- provide opportunity for collaborations and networking
- support youth activism that incorporates online tools and new technologies
DYF expected 400+ teenagers (aged 14 to 17) and up to 50 professionals who worked with youth. DYF was a nationwide event, last year edition gathered youth from 11 cities. Registration was open for individuals and groups.
In addition DYF benefited from hands on displays of latest technologies, virtual reality, coding, robots, 3D printers and many other attractions await participants in the exhibition area.
