The expert group meeting on Accessible TV in Converged ICT Ecosystem: Emerging trends, challenges, opportunities took place in Rome, Italy on 11 June 2015.
The meeting was organized by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and the Roma Tre University, and supported by a scientific committee.
The meeting was held within the framework of the ITU European Regional Initiative on "Ensuring access to telecommunications/ICTs, in particular for persons with disabilities", adopted by WTDC-14, Dubai.
Please note that this meeting took place back to back with the International Symposium on Respeaking, Live Subtitling and Accessibility, held on 12 June 2015 in Rome, Italy.
This expert meeting continued and further enhanced the discussions started at the Smart Accessibility on Connected TV workshop held on 18 March 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. With a particular focus on the experiences of national broadcasters, the expert meeting aimed to exchange best practices and identify challenges related to accessible television at the national and regional level in Europe. In addition the meeting targeted to discuss the modalities to implement accessible TV and it also allowed to start building a community of broadcasters and ICT accessibility professionals to jointly identify challenges and solutions that might be addressed at the regional level.
