This session focuses on the Asia Pacific Regulatory update on cross-cutting regulatory issues of 5G Rollout with actions on the ground taking off from GSR 2023 deliberations and guidelines.
Agile regulatory frameworks play a critical role to accommodate the increasing pace of technological developments. The recently concluded Global Symposium of Regulators (GSR) 2023, deliberated innovative regulation as a transformative tool to efficiently manage the digital landscape. It analysed different dimensions of digital regulation with a wide spectrum of stakeholders. Innovative regulatory approaches, economic incentives, and cross-sectoral and collaborative regulation are stressed as the need of the hour.
5G is over and above voice and data services and is envisaged for a larger gamut of digital transformation. It requires policy and regulation facilitation in key aspects viz. Street infrastructure management, Spectrum harmonization and allocation, Spectrum for enterprises, Investment incentivization, Use case infrastructure, Innovation policies etc.
In unleashing sustainable digital transformation, policymakers and regulators play a major role by aligning institutional frameworks for collaboration that outline the processes, mechanisms, and tools to be used across sectors and parts of government. In this context, this session focuses on the Asia Pacific Regulatory update taking note of diverse conditions of regulatory frameworks and telecommunications/ICT development in the region.
The session is designed to provide an opportunity for ITU-D members and key stakeholders to deliberate regulatory interventions, through partnerships at regional and national levels that support digital transformation
