ABOUT

ITU Policy and Economics Colloquium (IPEC-24) for the Americas took place physically in Lima, Peru, from 2 to 6 September 2024. The event was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the Organismo Supervisor de Inversión Privada en Telecomunicaciones (OSIPTEL), Peru.  This year, the ITU IPEC-24 for the Americas included the: ​​

PURPOSE

The Regional Economic Dialogue (RED-AMS) focused this year on, among other issues, the role of governments and regulators in providing a coherent approach to maximize the digital opportunities in the Americas Region; policy, regulatory, business and financing measures to foster inclusive affordable access to smart devices; the regulatory tools that provide a safe space for digital innovation; and the practices in the Americas region on regulatory costing and pricing strategies. The RED-AMS agenda with all the material and presentations is available here.

The ITU Colloquium on New Technologies and the Internet ITEC-24 focused on the contribution of new technologies to economic and financial development. The event offered scenarios to analyse new technological tendencies in the financial sector, digitalization of markets, new online services, amongst others.
