Target
This Workshop is addressed to the executives and experts responsible for
measurement of telecom/ICT development from ministries, national statistics
offices (NSOs), regulators, telecom operators, universities and general
education institutions, telecommunication equipment manufacturers, research
and design institutes, software developers and other interested
stakeholders from the Africa region.
Objective
The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of countries to produce
national statistics and indicators on telecommunications and ICTs. It is
intended for experts who are responsible for collecting or producing such
statistics in ministries, regulatory agencies and national statistical
offices.
Topics
The workshop will discuss the following questions;
- Overview of ITU's work on ICT statistics
- Understanding composite indices
- The ICT Development Index (IDI)
- Fixed-telephone network, mobile-cellular network and international bandwidth indicators
- Fixed-broadband, mobile-broadband and bundled telecommunication services indicators
- Big Data
- Getting ICT data through surveys
- Household ICT indicators included in the IDI and SDGs
- E-commerce statistics

Fellowship
ITU will grant one full or two partial fellowships per eligible country
within the Africa Region only, subject to the availability of funds. An
application for a fellowship must be authorized by the relevant
Administration.
