The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has developed the Spectrum Management System for Developing Countries (SMS4DC) to help regulators manage spectrum efficiently. As part of the PRIDA project, SMS4DC training from July 24 to 26, 2023, in Zambia, is organized to strengthen the technical capabilities of African regulators.
PRIDA is an initiative by the AUC, EU, ITU and also includes Regional Economic Communities, Africa Telecommunications Union, Regional Regulatory Associations, National Regulators, and other stakeholders. It includes many direct and indirect actions for helping African countries to achieve efficient and harmonized spectrum utilization across Africa (harmonize wireless broadband internet spectrum), including training, capacity building, workshops, creation of national, regional and Africa level Guidelines and Roadmaps among others.
The SMS4DC training session covers the national spectrum management framework, SMS4DC installation, technical analysis, spectrum allocation tools, technical spectrum planning tools, propagation models for spectrum engineering, fixed services planning, database and spectrum licensing functions.
