By end 2017, almost one out of five people (17.5%) in the LDCs will be online, compared to only 6% in 2012. 15% of households in LDCs have Internet access at home.
LDCs will register some 700 million mobile-cellular subscriptions, about 70 per 100 inhabitants. At the same time, the number of mobile-broadband subscriptions is estimated to reach close to 220 million by end 2017, translating into a penetration rate of 22%. Close to 60% of the population in LDCs is covered by a mobile-broadband signal, and an increasing number of LDCs have launched 4G services.
