Ingrid Sánchez-Tapia, Education Specialist of UNICEF
Ingrid Sánchez-Tapia is UNICEF's Education Specialist on Gender Equality in Education and Secondary Education at the global level. Ingrid leads efforts to strengthen programing on gender equality in education across UNICEF's education programs, including STEM for girls, gender-responsive life skills, and digital skills. Ingrid also provides technical advice for the UNFPA-UNICEF Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage and the UNICEF-WFP-UNFPA programme Breaking Barriers to Girls' Education. Ingrid has been a professor of STEM education in various countries: the United States, Colombia, Panama, and Chile. Her research focused on designing learning environments that support adolescents to develop STEM-related knowledge and skills, with an emphasis on marginalized groups because of ethnicity, language, and gender. For over a decade Ingrid supported Ministries of Education in Latin America in science curricular reform and national-level initiatives on science teachers' professional development. Her latest book showcases research on science education around the world.
