Areewan Haorangsi, Secretary General of Asia-Pacific Telecommunity
Ms. Areewan Haorangsi has taken up her post as Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) since 9 February 2015. She was elected by the General Assembly of the APT in 2014 and re-elected for the second consecutive term in 2017.
Before joining APT, Ms. Haorangsi was the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of Thailand (currently the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society - MDES).
Ms. Haorangsi brings to her post over three decades of service both in national and international stage. Her international experience included serving as Chairman of a Working Group under ASEAN Telecommunication and IT Senior Officials' Meeting (TELSOM) and Chairman of Telecommunication and IT Sectoral Working Group under the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Services. She had been Head of Thai Delegation to various international meetings under ASEAN, APEC, APT, ITU, etc.
Ms. Haorangsi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (International Relations), Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and a Master of Business Administration (Management of Technology), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
