Edgar J Wilson graduated from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University. He worked on many projects in broadcasting research and development at the UK Independent Broadcasting Authority before joining the New Technology Division in the Technical Department of the EBU in 1988. One of his first tasks at the EBU was to help demonstrate mobile DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) in Geneva to participants at the ITU. At the EBU he was responsible for co-ordinating developments in data broadcasting and conditional access technology. From the commencement of the Digital Video Broadcasting Project in 1993 he was closely involved in many DVB actions, from the requirements capture by the Commercial Module, specification drafting by Technical groups, to formal standardisation at ETSI, CENELEC, and ITU. For the last eight years he has been working on the international implementation of DVB terrestrial services as Project Manager of DigiTAG (the Digital Terrestrial Television Action Group).
