Effective Harmonization between SDOs

Bob Williams is internationally recognised as one of the worlds leading independent data capture consultants specialising in wireless technologies with (concurrently) more than 20 years experience in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), 25 years experience in Bar Coding, and more than 10 years experience of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). He has provided, and provides, consultancy support to many of the worlds leading companies and governments around the world. He is the architect and, in many cases, the editor, of several International Standards for RFID and ITS. He is the author of the market study "The Future of Automatic Product Identification", and the reference textbooks "Understanding Bar Coding", and "Automatic Identification" (all published by PIRA www.piranet.com). (He was awarded an honorary Doctorate by Trinity College for this research and 10 forecast of the Automatic Product Identification market in the period 2002-2012). He is an external lecturer at Ajou University, Korea, and is the editor of the PIRA quarterly journal, "Product ID" .

Behind Bob Williams specialisation in RFID, and one of the reasons for his success in the sector, is a broadly based business experience. A qualified Accountant, FCMA (Fellow Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), he has 12 years experience as an accountant, accounting manager and internal organization consultant in ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) which was, at that time, one of the worlds top 10 companies, and has 5 years experience in retail banking before this. This background enables him to understand and evaluate the economics and business case for technology opportunities, manage and lead project teams.

Chair ETSI TG37 - ITS	Chairman of ETSI TG37, developing communications Standards for ITS.
Convenor TC204 WG1-System Architecture	Developing System Architecture Standards for ITS.
Convenor TC204 WG16.1-CALM	Developing standards for continuous communications between vehicles and the roadside using multiple media.
Editor ISO 21212	CALM 2/2.5 G cellular telecommunications standards for quasi continuous communications with vehicles

Editor " PRODUCT ID"	Editor and significant contributing author for "Product ID" PIRA's quarterly technical journal on product identification.
Manager "Worldwide Directory of RFID Manufacturers and OEM's"	First issued in 1990, and continuously since that date, CSI produces the worlds' most comprehensive directory of RFID manufacturers, OEM's and products. Updated weekly by a research team under Bob Williams management. This directory also provides the core information for PIRA's "RFIDBase" service.
Author "The Future of Automatic Product Identification"	Published 2003, PIRA. A major 10 year market research study of the future shape of, and actors in, the Automatic Product Identification sector.
Author "Automatic Identification"	A 600+ page textbook covering the principal auto-id technologies- RFID, Bar Coding, Smart Cards, Magnetic Stripe, Biometrics, Touch Memory, OCR/Video, Touch Screen, GPS/Cellular, WLAN, Numbering and Data Management, Error Correction, etc.
Author "Understanding Bar Coding"	A 400+ page detailed textbook explaining Bar Coding.
Team Leader GTAG Protocol Resolution Team	Lead the team which brought major leading RFID manufacturers together with independent technology experts to form a single technical specification for RFID for item management at 900 MHz and subsequently formed the basis of ISO 18000-6.
