Bob Williams is internationally recognised as one of the worlds leading independent data capture consultants specialising in wireless technologies with (concurrently) more than 20 years experience in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), 25 years experience in Bar Coding, and more than 10 years experience of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). He has provided, and provides, consultancy support to many of the worlds leading companies and governments around the world. He is the architect and, in many cases, the editor, of several International Standards for RFID and ITS. He is the author of the market study "The Future of Automatic Product Identification", and the reference textbooks "Understanding Bar Coding", and "Automatic Identification" (all published by PIRA www.piranet.com). (He was awarded an honorary Doctorate by Trinity College for this research and 10 forecast of the Automatic Product Identification market in the period 2002-2012). He is an external lecturer at Ajou University, Korea, and is the editor of the PIRA quarterly journal, "Product ID" .
Behind Bob Williams specialisation in RFID, and one of the reasons for his success in the sector, is a broadly based business experience. A qualified Accountant, FCMA (Fellow Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), he has 12 years experience as an accountant, accounting manager and internal organization consultant in ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) which was, at that time, one of the worlds top 10 companies, and has 5 years experience in retail banking before this. This background enables him to understand and evaluate the economics and business case for technology opportunities, manage and lead project teams.
