Summary:
|
Splitting the biometric reference can minimize the security risks associated with the biometric authentication process. The main principle is to split the biometric reference into pieces and store them in different locations, preventing any party from having complete information. Since the biometric reference is first encrypted and then divided, each split piece does not have any biometric information. So, at even in the event of accidental disclosure of any party, the recovery of the complete biometric reference from the disclosed one of split pieces is not possible. This Recommendation not only provides splitting techniques and authentication models ensuring the security of biometric references in the storage, but also introduces enhanced authentication mechanisms using split biometric references.
