Las Directrices de Diseño Continua (CDG) definen un marco de normas y criterios subyacentes que garantizan la interoperabilidad de dispositivos y datos utilizados en servicios de salud personal conectados. También incluye directrices de diseño (DG) adicionales que clarifican las normas o especificaciones subyacentes al reducir las opciones o añadir características de las que se carece y que mejoran la interoperabilidad.
