 The 7th World Telecommunication/ICT
Indicators (WTI) Meeting took place in Cairo, Egypt, from 3-5 March
2009. The Meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT)
of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the Ministry of
Communications and Information Technology of the Government of Egypt.
The meeting addressed the following
topics, among others:
- ICT
household statistics (including a presentation of the ITU Household Manual)
- Revisions
and additions to indicators included in the ITU Telecommunication/ICT
Indicators Handbook

Benchmarking information society developments (including a presentation of
the ITU ICT Development Index)

International data collection and dissemination
- Measuring
the impact of telecommunication development on the creation of employment
The meeting was opened to all the
membership and was primarily addressed to those responsible for ICT statistics in
relevant Ministries, regulatory agencies, telecommunication operating companies
and national statistical offices. Experts interested in the subject of
information society measurements were also welcome to attend the meeting.
