Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH)

The 4th Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 5-7 October 2016. The meeting was organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by ITU. The EGH meeting was held back-to-back with the 7th Meeting of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI), which also took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 4-5 October 2016.

EGH meetings are open to all ITU members and experts in the field of ICT statistics and data collection.

The objective of the 4th EGH meeting was to examine the contributions received from members of the EGH online discussion forum over the current working period, with a view to finalizing the items under discussion. The outcome of the discussions was subsequently presented at the 14th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS), which was held in Botswana, from 21 to 23 November 2016.

The statistical topics that were covered during the EGH meeting include, among others: indicators on employment using ICT skills and tools; a new mobile phone metric; indicators on purchasing or ordering ICT goods or services; improving the data availability of ICT statistics (i.e. SDG indicators); national coordination among ICT data producers and users; and methodological issues related to data collection, verification and dissemination of ICT statistics. In addition, the EGTI and EGH joint session discussed two standing agenda items: the use of big data in official statistics and the ICT Development Index (IDI).

The documents concerning the meeting, including the agenda, the logistic information and the preparatory documents for the discussions, are available in the EGH online forum:
