The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), The African Union
Commission (AUC), African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and Forum Global
jointly organized the two events in the framework of the 3nd Annual
Sub-Sahara Spectrum Management Conference at Intercontinental Hotel,
Nairobi, which is hosted by the Communication Authority of Kenya, as
follows:
- March 6th and 7th : The Workshop on Digital Broadcasting Technologies
- March 8th and 9th: The Sub-Saharan Spectrum Management Conference
The aim of the events is to provide a platform to discuss key issues
relating to the management and allocation of spectrum in the region, and
focus specifically on aspects such as the digital switchover .
It will bring together all the key spectrum stakeholders, and provide a
high-level meeting point to discuss the most topical issues in the field,
including;
- Preparations for WRC-19 in Africa and around the world
- Accelerating the release of the Digital Dividend
- The 5G story for Africa
- Spectrum for 4G - meeting 'shorter term' future data needs
- Progress for delivery of mobile broadband to rural areas
The Conference will be preceded by the Workshop on Digital Broadcasting
Technologies which will address the latest techniques and tools to be used
by countries in the DDT implementation in order to help achieving their
Migration process and manage DTT networks.
