​The BDT Director took part in the Transform Africa Summit (TAS2023) between 26 and 28 April in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.  ​

He spoke at various Ministerial-level events over the three-day event, including: 

• Ministerial Round Table: Network of Women Digital Ministers for inclusive digital policy and digital gender equality
• Public-Private Partnership for rural connectivity, followed by a spotlight session on Giga   

During the event, the BDT also made several major announcements.

• He spoke at the inter-generational dialogue – the main international celebration on Girls in ICT Day – alongside the ITU Secretary-General.
• He launched the new ITU-European Commission project, 'Promoting and measuring universal and meaningful digital connectivity', to advance holistic policy approaches and provide recommendations on boosting good-quality Internet and mobile access.
• He signed the ITU-Smart Africa Declaration of Intent on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Capacity Building.
• He launched launch the Govstack Women in GovTech Challenge to empower women working in Government Digital Teams

Following the event, he launched and toured a new E-Learning Project at the Ndlovu Secondary School. He witnessed the power of digital transformation in education and its potential to create more equitable access to learning opportunities.
