VISION
|
'To assist the Secretary-General to provide the leadership
for the much needed reforms in the International
Telecommunication Union to enhance more cooperation between
the developed and developing world, and make the Union more
active and dynamic basing on consensus, partnership,
efficiency, and a high level of professionalism and
standards of excellence'. |
VALUES
|
Telecommunication, no doubt, serves as the foundation or the
building block for Information and Communication Technology
(ICT). The ITU faces new challenges in the light of the wide
divide that exists between the developing and developed
worlds, between the urban and rural sectors of society, and
between the haves and the have-nots.
On the other hand, the 'two worlds' need each other for
interdependence to have meaningful competitiveness in the
Telecommunications/ICT market place, technological advances
and breakthroughs, liberalization, deregulation, and above
all, efficient service delivery will all have to take into
consideration the values of equity, cooperation,
partnership, and consumer welfare.
